The time has come to blog! Far to many things have happened in the last two days to not have Internet. Yesterday was the first official day of work and long it was indeed. After a morning of introductions and scheduling I headed to Shinkjuku (in Tokyo) to get myself a cell phone and a bank account so my semblence of a normal life in Japan can be official minus Internet of course. The journey was some hour and a half but worth the time. I met up with Koichiro and we began our quest. Some other Aiessec members met up with us to help in my quest. The phone was not to difficult. In fact the phone I chose was free with my plan and in many respects above and beyond most American equivalents. But then again I am in japan so it only makes sense. The bank account required proof of a cell phone plan for foreigners so once I had my contract in hand I headed to the bank with only 5 or so minutes to spare before they closed. But I was in luck and I was able to open an account and am now somewhat like a regular person. But the way home was quite an adventure. Once arriving at my kumagata station in isesaki I managed to get lost walking home and some 1.5 hours later after passing a dead cat, a Denny’s and a shell gas station I managed to figure out how to get to my apartment. But the next day I was to have a medical exam so I couldn’t eat anything. My legs heart, my brain was dead, time for me to pass out.
The next day I rose bright and early at 730 to begin class prep work. This consisted of decorating and going over a daily schedule. Then at 300 in the afternoon with a belly as empty as could be I went to get my medical exam. Let’s just say it seemed to be about the equivalent of a NASA astronaut physical, complete with body clamps to test your heart and chest x-rays. But perhaps the grand finale was my blood test. After a very long period of not eating and excessive walking. As soon as they took my blood I stood up and felt the world spin. I wobbled around for a bit and managed to sit down right before I fell down. I was on the verge of passing out and only after a Japanese nurse layed me down could I get my senses back. God what a day. So long. But after the exam I was able to indulge in some school made psuedo-lasagna and regain my senses. After I went back to prep work and then promptly at 530 drank a beer at my apartment. Soo good, sometimes a beer just makes life a little better. I soon packed my backpack to head to my friend Tatsuro’s hometown and enjoy the weekend. I am so glad it is the weekend! Of course I did decide to go on the wrong direction train to get to Tatsuro for a nice little 30 minute detour or so and am now headed the right way :P next week I think i will have Internet! Yessssssssss. Ok well let the weeekend begin!
PS I think captain Harlock the Space Pirate is on my train right now. Hahahaha look him up on google images and you will know what I mean
